Al-Noamani stressed the importance of the Supreme Council of Universities choosing Sohag University among the fifteen public universities to implement the project for the Service Center for Students with Disabilities within it, in cooperation with the IMIDEAST Authority, which is a great project that is considered a great addition to the university’s students with disabilities, and an important development in the services provided to them. He added that in implementation of the directives of the political leadership on the necessity of supporting and assisting these students, and applying the principles of equal opportunities, equality and non-discrimination, the university was keen to develop a vision and a purposeful mission for the center based on caring for students with disabilities and benefiting from their distinctive energies and talents, within the framework of the country’s broader investment orientation. Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin explained that establishing a service center for students with disabilities on the university grounds will achieve many of the goals of the university’s strategic plan. Through it, the culture of integration will be spread among students and all university employees, and all advisory and training services will be made available to the university and external community, in addition to providing educational services and activities. students with disabilities, in addition to preparing graduates with disabilities on how to face the labor market by possessing the required skills and experience, adding that cooperation between the university and the AMIDEAST Authority stipulates that the university provides the appropriate place, and the authority undertakes to provide all the equipment and requirements for the educational process. Dr. Khaled Omran pointed out that the university administration is keen to remove all administrative, educational and scientific difficulties that stand before students with disabilities and hinder their educational career, and is trying hard to empower them with all their rights and integrate them into social life without discrimination or racism, due to its complete belief in their important role and serious contributions. Dr. Tariq Zaki Mousa, Director of the Center, added that the Center seeks to deal with the disability file within the university in a professional institutional manner and in accordance with quality standards, which contributes to improving the condition of people with disabilities on the academic, psychological, social and personal levels, explaining that the Center’s headquarters is a strategic location, as it is located on the first floor. The ground floor of the services building next to the International Conference Center is being prepared and configured according to the engineering availability code for buildings and facilities within the university, adding that the center includes 6 rooms: the computer lab, the Braille printer room, the support and consultations room, the training lab, in addition to the reception and center management rooms.
