Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, chaired the first meeting of the University Council in its monthly session No. 196 of August 2023, to discuss a number of topics related to the educational and research process, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Educational and Research Affairs. Community service and environmental development, accountant Ashraf El-Qadi, Secretary-General of the University, and deans of colleges.
Al-Noamani began the council by offering thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, for his confidence and issuing a decision appointing him as President of the University, and to Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education. He also extended a greeting of respect and appreciation to all former university presidents and its administrative leaders who contributed their efforts and work to Building and advancing the university. He also expressed his thanks and gratitude to the esteemed members of the University Council and the university family, professors, students and employees, pledging a new beginning in implementing distinguished educational and research projects.
The Council members congratulated Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani, wishing him more success and continuing to exert more effort and giving. To achieve prestige and advance the university’s name to be among the leading universities.
Al-Nomani explained that the council witnessed the discussion of a number of topics on the agenda related to the regularity of the educational process, and it also included business developments in the university’s colleges. He explained that the council approved the educational scholarships proposed to be provided to the people of Sinai to integrate them into society, in the colleges of commerce, al-alsun, arts, and engineering. And sciences, based on the book received from the Supreme Council of Universities.
Al-Nomani pointed out that the Council agreed to adopt the bylaws of the “Photography and Geomatics” program with the credit hour system at the College of Arts, and also to adopt the internal bylaws for the bachelor’s stage in the College of Engineering with the credit hour system, after making the amendments recommended by the Engineering Studies Sector Committee.
The university president added that the council also agreed to provide a series of free nutritional awareness programs for students of the College of Specific Education to enhance their food culture, and to provide specialized nutritional programs for female students in the Department of Home Economics to prepare them for the labor market, provided that these programs take place within the college on a periodic basis, in addition to approving A cooperation protocol was concluded between the Oncology Center and the University’s College of Education, and the establishment of a sustainable development unit at the College of Nursing.
It is worth noting that the Council has approved the appointment of a faculty member in the College of Human Medicine to the position of Professor, and 3 faculty members in the Faculties of Arts and Medicine to the position of Assistant Professor, in addition to the appointment of 6 faculty members in the Faculties of Medicine, Arts, Agriculture and Science to the position of Instructor. In addition to granting doctoral degrees to 3 faculty members in the Faculties of Education and Arts, and granting master’s degrees to 22 faculty members in the Faculties of Education, Science, Human Medicine, Arts, Agriculture, Commerce and Languages.
