The Nour Al-Basira Center for People with Disabilities at Sohag University celebrated the International Day of the Deaf and the International Day of Sign Language, in the glass hall on the old campus, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr. Imad Al-Suwaina, Director The Centre, Dr. Salma Abdel Moneim, Deputy Director of the Centre, and a number of faculty members, deaf students and their families.
Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of the University, confirmed that in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030, it seeks to provide high-quality education without discrimination between students, indicating that the University cares about students with disabilities in particular, and is always working to improve the level of all educational services provided to them. It is also keen to integrate students with disabilities with their normal peers, and transform them into a productive and influential force in society.
In his speech, Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin explained that the university is keen, in light of the directions of the political leadership, to organize many events, activities and training programs to support people with disabilities, with the aim of integrating them with their colleagues, stressing that the university administration does not hesitate to provide everything it can to students with disabilities, especially the deaf. To make it easier for them and their families throughout their university studies.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Omran pointed out that today represents the celebration of the International Day of the Deaf, who are an essential and integral part of the university’s entity, praising the services, activities and celebrations that the center provides for students with disabilities in general, and thanking those in charge of the “Noor Al-Basira” Center and their interest and care for students with disabilities. Various disabilities at the university.
In his speech, Dr. Imad Al-Suwaina expressed his thanks and appreciation to the University President for his care and concern for students with various disabilities at the university. He also stressed the keenness of the Nour Al-Basira Center for People with Disabilities to celebrate all occasions related to deaf students who have become part of the fabric of the university, adding that certificates of appreciation were handed over to students of the College of Medicine. Those who passed the two workshops on medical terminology in sign language and techniques for dealing with people with disabilities.
Dr. Salma Abdel Moneim added that the celebration began with the Republican Anthem performed by the deaf students at the university, led by Amal Al-Baroudi, the university’s sign language interpreter, then the Holy Qur’an by the student Taha Hussein, a student who conquers autism, then a number of artistic performances.
