Sohag University wins first place in student basketball at the Student Families Sports Forum in Kafr El-Sheikh
Sohag University won first place and the gold medal in the student basketball game, during its participation in the sports festival for student families for male and female students at Egyptian universities for the academic year 2023/2024, which was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports represented by the Central Administration for Sports Development (General Administration for Student Sports Activities). In cooperation with Kafrelsheikh University, under the slogan “Youth of the Universities of the New Republic,” 400 male and female students from 18 Egyptian universities participated during the competitions, this was stated by Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, the university’s president.
The University President thanked Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, for their unlimited support for implementing many student activities in various fields, which contribute to instilling the values of fair competition, exchanging experiences, acquiring skills, and exploiting youth energies. Developing their abilities to think creatively, and also enhancing the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, which contributes to graduating academically and practically qualified students to participate in building the new republic and implementing Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, congratulated the team that won the gold medal, adding that such forums are a national occasion in which distinguished Egyptian youth meet in Egyptian universities to compete honorably in all sporting activities, stressing the importance of practicing activities as a focus for building an integrated personality, and The basis for the success of human investment to meet development requirements in our beloved Egypt.
Muhammad Youssef, Director of the Department of Families and Student Unions, explained that the participating delegation included 14 male and female students, adding that the forum included a number of sports, including five-a-side football, table tennis, speedball, electronic games, in addition to open recreational games.
Nashaat Abbas, Director of the Sports Activity Department at the Central Youth Welfare Department, said that during the forum, the university also won fourth place in the female student table tennis game, and in-kind prizes, shields and certificates of appreciation were presented to the winners and participants.
