The activities of the Egyptian CrossFit Universities Sports Festival (BE FIT) were launched a short while ago at Sohag University, which is organized by the Sports Activity Department of the General Administration of Central Youth Welfare, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Central Administration of Sports Development – General Administration of Student Sports Activities), during the period From the 19th to the 22nd of this November, under the slogan “Youth of the Universities of the New Republic,” and under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports. The opening of the events was attended by Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and a number of faculty members at the College of Physical Education, and officials of youth welfare departments in the colleges.
Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of the University, explained that student and sports activities in particular have witnessed unprecedented interest from the political leadership, led by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, during the last ten years, due to their great role in building the students’ personalities, discovering sports talents, and gaining a number of Individual and group skills according to the abilities and inclinations of each student, stressing the university administration’s keenness to provide an appropriate environment for student activities as it is one of the most important pillars and foundations of the university work system, praising the cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the various activities that are being implemented in order to support and nurture the gifted and distinguished.
For his part, Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin said that the Education and Student Affairs Sector strives to provide all aspects of support and care to encourage students to practice student activities and increase the space for participation in national and local events, by preparing a comprehensive and integrated plan that keeps pace with the needs and capabilities of students.
He added that the university pays great attention to the sports aspect, for its positive role in the physical and moral education of youth, in addition to contributing to the preparation of a generation of young people with integrated personalities capable of giving and production, thanking the Youth Welfare Administration for the good organization of the festival.
Both Sabri Muhammad, Director of the Central Youth Welfare Department, and Nashat Abbas, Director of the Sports Activity Department, said that the sports festival activities are being held on the grounds of the University City for female students at the old university headquarters, with the participation of 1,440 male and female students in all colleges, where the participants were divided according to the results of the study group over the number of days. Festival, adding that the festival includes a number of physical competitions (CrossFit), which aim to measure the extent of endurance, strength, speed, flexibility and agility, in addition to raising the fitness levels of university youth.
It is worth noting that the opening was attended by members of the Supervision and Follow-up Committee from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, namely Muhammad Ali Abdel Samie, Director of the Universities Administration, Dr. Howaida Abdullah Shams, a specialist in the technical office, and Samar Ahmed Khalifa, a sports specialist. The ceremony included lining up the parade queue, the Republican anthem, and a number of sports and artistic segments. .
