Sohag University offers five positions in the British Times Classification of Arab Universities 2023
Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, announced that the university achieved an advanced position in the British Times Higher Education Arab University Ranking 2023, as it came in the list of the 60 best universities among the 313 Arab universities included in this classification, which in turn made it It is ranked 17th among the 34 Egyptian universities listed in this important international classification.
Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani said that this continuous progress and great achievements of Sohag University in various international classifications comes as a translation of the directives of the political leadership on the necessity of paying attention to scientific research and the international classifications of Egyptian universities, and the necessity of competing in this field at the international and regional levels, because of its impact on the scientific and academic reputation of the universities. Egyptian, which in turn makes it a destination for scholars and researchers of various Arab and foreign nationalities.
Al-Nomani added that this achievement is a natural result of the increasing interest of the university administration and its scholars in scientific research and international scientific publishing. The university spares no effort in supporting scientific research and international scientific publishing by increasing the rewards for scientific publishing in internationally classified scientific journals, as it is one of the main factors in improving The university’s position in various international classifications, in addition to the positive returns of scientific research and its applications in various societal sectors
Dr. Abdullah Ismail, Director of the University’s Scientific Publishing Center, explained that the university advanced five places over last year, where it was in 22nd place, and this year it ranked 17th at the level of Egyptian universities, explaining that the British Times classification of Arab universities is based on 16 indicators of university performance in all fields. It is carefully calibrated and grouped into five main themes including: Teaching (learning environment): 33%, Research (volume, income, reputation): 33%, Citations (research impact): 20%, Community (knowledge transfer and impact): 6%, Reputation International Academy (staff, students and research): 8%. Pointing out that the university has achieved remarkable progress this year on all of these axes compared to previous years.
Both Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem and Dr. Amr Abdel Hamid at the Scientific Publishing Center emphasized the unlimited support provided by the university administration and the efforts made to improve the quality of scientific research published internationally, which led to remarkable results in international publishing rates, and this demonstrates the university’s interest in scientific research. And to continue working and making more efforts, as well as providing all necessary capabilities, with the aim of reaching a better level within Arab and international universities, in order to achieve sustainable development, Egypt’s Vision 2030.
