Dr. Hassan Al-Tamani, President of Sohag University, announced that an area of 7,500 square meters has been allocated to implement the general surgery hospital project within the university campus in New Sohag City, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to pay attention to the medical sector and health services provided to citizens.
In this context, Dr. Hassan Al-Numani held a meeting with Brigadier Khaled Halawa, Project Manager of the implementing company, and Dr. Ashraf Hilal, Consultant of the implementing company, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the accountant Ashraf Al-Qadi, Secretary-General of the University, and a number of representatives of the National Company. In order to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the project to establish a general surgery hospital, within the university campus in New Sohag City.
Al-Nomani added that the university seeks to establish these specialized hospitals, as this project is one of the important medical projects being established in the governorate, and is a new addition to the health system to provide the best means of care and distinguished medical services to serve the people of Sohag Governorate and the neighboring governorates.
The university president said that the building will consist of a ground floor and four floors, with a capacity of 300 beds, 27 intensive care rooms, and 8 operating rooms, in addition to 28 dialysis machines, a radiology department, 31 outpatient clinics, and a physical therapy department. It will also include a number of medical laboratories. The specialty, a special section for cardiac catheterization, contains 12 cardiac care beds, 4 cardiac catheterization operating rooms, a special unit for gastrointestinal endoscopy, and a residential home for doctors and nurses.
Al-Nomani pointed out that a number of university hospitals are being established in the university’s private medical city, in New Sohag City, which is being built on an area of 17 acres, to serve as a medical complex with integrated medical and therapeutic services for patients from the people of Upper Egypt and neighboring governorates.
