Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, met with the Board of Directors of the University’s Professional Development Center, to discuss what has been accomplished and the future work plan, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Khalaf Hammam, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Dr. Amal Abdel Wahed, Executive Director of the University Project. For professional development at Sohag, Aswan, and Sadat Universities, Dr. Mahmoud El-Minshawy, Director of the Center, Dr. Sayed Jibril, Deputy Director of the Center, and all members of the Center, in the University Council Hall on the old campus.
Dr. Hassan Al-Numani said that the meeting discussed the center’s achievements during the academic year 2022/2023, in addition to reviewing work plans during the academic year 2023/2024, and mechanisms for increasing participation in the labor market to activate the role of the external center.
Al-Noamani confirmed that Sohag University has been nominated by the Supreme Council of Universities to launch a new electronic platform for communicating with students, training them, and providing job opportunities available to them in the labor market. It is one of the university’s initiatives for digital transformation and governance of information systems for students and graduates. It is also possible through this platform. Providing a large number of training programs and workshops that contribute to developing various employment skills and building highly qualified leaders among young graduates.
The university president added that during the meeting, the adoption of the center’s work plan during the current academic year was discussed, which includes training and workshops for university students, in addition to holding a number of training sessions with a number of governmental and non-governmental bodies, through activating cooperation work protocols that are being finalized and signed. Pointing out that the university aims to hold a number of employment forums during the coming period targeting young graduates from various colleges, and this trend comes in response to the vision of the Egyptian state to bridge the gap in some of the specializations required in the labor market.
Dr. Khaled Omran explained that the meeting also reviewed the center’s role in conducting labor market surveys, which included collecting accurate data on factories, companies, and governmental and non-governmental institutions inside and outside Sohag, the number of vacant jobs in them, and the opportunities available to young graduates from Sohag University to join those jobs.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Minshawy, Director of the Center, added that during the meeting, the achievements achieved by the Center during the last period were reviewed, including the number of training provided by the Center, during the last academic year, where the Center provided training courses, workshops, and professional guidance sessions to 25,612 male and female students from various courses required by the market. Working for free, explaining that the meeting also discussed some challenges and obstacles, including completing the administrative structure of the center, as well as how to maximize the benefit from the center’s services through joint cooperation with other university centers, to achieve a greater return that is reflected in the services provided to students and graduates.
