Al-Nomani said that the new device is the first of its kind in Upper Egypt and its cost is 15 million pounds. It will serve heart patients who visit the hospital’s cardiac catheterization unit in particular, and its services will also extend to include cardiac catheterization for children, and arterial and vascular catheterization in the vascular surgery department, in addition to treatment. Dr. Magdy Amin Al-Qadi, Dean of the College of Human Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, pointed out that the device is considered one of the highly efficient devices that comply with modern international standards for cardiac catheterization, as its installation and testing work is underway in preparation for it to begin operating and working with it soon.
Dr. Sharaf El-Din Shazly, Head of the Cardiology Department, explained that the cardiac catheterization unit was operated in 2004 and is equipped with the latest technologies and possesses an elite group of distinguished medical personnel in order to serve a wide sector of heart patients in the governorate and neighboring governorates.
Dr. Ahmed Hamed, Director of the New University Hospital, added that the device works to help doctors get a clear picture of cases that require catheterization in a more effective and safe way, and that it will also help in providing therapeutic services to patients in addition to the device in the old university hospital.
