Prof. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, received a committee from the Supreme Council of Universities, to determine the necessary material and human capabilities in preparation for the start of studies at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, in the presence of Dr. Mukhtar Youssef, former Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of the Committee, and the membership of Colonel Muhammad Khaled Shuaib, a member of the Administrative Oversight Authority, Major General Jouda Ismail, a professor at the Military Technical faculty, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Hazem Al-Mushanab, Dean of faculty of Science, Dr. Hamdi Hassanein, Dean of faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, and a number of staff members in the faculties of Science and Agriculture. And engineering.
Al-Nomani stressed that the faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research will provide a qualitative addition and new fields that are needed locally and globally in the coming decades, and comes in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Sisi to link scientific research with issues of external society, in a way that suits the needs of the era and the current labor market, and in line with the strategy of higher education and scientific research which was launched by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and will maximize the added value of Egyptian human resources.
On the other hand, the faculty will offer a group of unique specializations at the level of Upper Egypt, with its goal being to support the national economic system and participate in various development projects in a way that meets the requirements of sustainable development, to graduate a generation of young people capable of keeping pace with global scientific developments. Dr. Mukhtar Youssef praised the college’s components and equipment at the highest level, which are appropriate for performing the educational process at the highest level of quality.
This came during the inspection tour conducted by the committee to the faculty’s headquarters in the old university campus.
Prof. Hamdy Hassanein said that the aim of establishing the faculty is to study the environmental problems facing the South Upper Egypt region and find innovative solutions to them, and maximize the use of natural resources and their development and ensure their sustainability by conducting advanced studies and research, and helping institutions and factories in measuring the carbon footprint and issuing Carbon certificates, in addition to qualifying and training human cadres to confront issues related to the South Upper Egypt region, adding that the faculty grants a PHD degree in environmental sciences, a master’s degree in environmental sciences, and a diploma in specialized postgraduate studies.
