The activities of the Fourth Sports Festival for individual and team games kicked off, with the participation of 424 male and female students

Today, at Sohag University, the activities of the fourth sports festival for individual and group games, organized by the Department of Sports Activity at the General Administration of Central Youth Welfare, kicked off on the 11th and 12th of this March, at the campus stadiums for female students at the old university headquarters. This was stated by Dr. Mostafa Abdel Khalek, President of University, and said that the sports festival is an important annual event in which university students from various faculties meet to play sports that suit their inclinations and desires, and aims to create a spirit of honest competition among them, exploit their energies and develop their talents, and instill the values of sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork.

Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, inspected the activities of the first day of the festival, explaining that the organization of the sports festival comes within the plan of student activities for the academic year 2022/2023, as the university administration is keen to provide all means of support for the establishment of such events that contribute to expanding The rule of sports practice, and providing the opportunity for the largest number of students to show their sports skills and talents, in order to qualify the distinguished among them to join the university teams and participate in the summit tournaments.

Sabri Muhammad, Director of the Central Youth Welfare Department, indicated that the festival includes a number of distinguished sports, including individual sports such as table tennis and 100-meter running, and group ones such as football pentathlon, basketball 3×3, and volleyball.

Nashat Abbas, Director of the Sports Activity Department, added that the festival is attended by 424 male and female students from 17 faculties, in addition to students in university dormitories. A group of sports specialists in youth welfare departments judges and supervises the events.

Al-Khatib Muhammad, a sports specialist in the department, said that today’s activities began with the preliminary round matches to determine the teams qualified for the final round, and tomorrow the activities will be concluded

and the winners of the first three places will be honored.
